The First Ever TEDxGlasgow Award 2017

Having just launched the first ever TEDxGlasgow Award we are really excited to see what big ideas are submitted for the Award. We honestly believe Scotland is home to fantastic thinkers, dreamers, creators and inventors. People with a passion for what they do and for making a difference.

And we want to recognise the best. We are offering the chance to share your idea with the TEDxGlasgow audience on 2nd of June and our network of business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs.
The idea can come from anyone from activists, scientists, artists, educators, entrepreneurs, technologists — you name it.

We are looking for an idea that:

  • Takes people, the planet, profit and purpose as its starting point
  • Answers a big question
  • Inspires people
  • Has a link with Scotland

The prize is genuinely priceless. The support from a tailored selection of recognised business leaders is a dream for anyone looking to launch or develop their idea. The range of business leaders willing to be part of this prize is fabulous (more on that later). And, of course, there will be some lovely tech prizes to go with it. The winner will be the first ever winner of the TEDxGlasgow Award and will be profiled across our social channels to our massive audience, as well as joining an elite group of innovators who have been awarded TEDx awards across the globe.

We also have a hugely impressive judging panel of experts in their field. We are delighted to announce the judge line-up as follows:

  • Stuart Brown – Head of SME, Scotland & Northern Ireland at Barclays
  • Margaret Gibson OBE – Scotland Hub Leader at the Ernst and Young Foundation Scotland
  • David Johnstone – MD at After Digital
  • Sandy Kennedy – CEO Entrepreneurial Scotland
  • Evelyn McDonald – CEO The Edge
  • Silka Patel – Digital Transformation Marketing Manager, Cisco

I’m sure you will agree that this is an impressive group with individually diverse backgrounds and experience. The judges are really looking forward to this challenge and to hearing you talk about your ideas.

We are also able to announce that “Judgement Day” has now been finalised as 27th April 2017 where the top 10 applicants will present and answer questions on their ideas in front of our judges. Out of that day, two ideas will be selected to present again at TEDxGlasgow on 2nd June 2017 at the SEC Armadillo where the fantastic TEDxGlasgow audience will choose the ultimate winner.

Applications for our Award have now closed – thanks to all those who entered.
